📢 Have you ever wanted to create a documentary but didn’t know where to start? This free, 5-week Intro to Documentary Filmmaking course will teach you how to craft compelling stories using just the tools you have at your disposal and basic editing tools.

By the end of the course, you’ll create your own short documentary and have the opportunity to showcase it in our HillmanTok Film Festival! 🎥✨

Class begins Wednesday, February 12th!

What You’ll Learn

✅ Week 1: Documentary Principles + Finding Your Story – How to discover and develop a compelling documentary idea
✅ Week 2: Art of Pre-Production – Planning, researching, structuring, interviewing techniques, and shot lists
✅ Week 3: Art of Production – Filming basics, lighting, b-roll, and directing subjects
✅ Week 4: Art of Post-Production – Turning raw clips into a powerful story
✅ Week 5: Art of Marketing – Social media strategy and audience engagement

✅ Week 6-8: Labwork – Final touches (film + edit) and submitting your film

Nope! This course is designed for beginners.

All lessons will be available on TikTok as well as my YouTube channel to review if you aren’t able to watch live.

Details will be shared in Week 5, and submissions will be showcased in our Virtual Film Festival!

❓ Is there a syllabus ?
